Don Rico Headquarters
This was my first mural, and I had no idea what to expect painting something so large but it turned into a joyful experiment that sparked a love for mural-making. It was commissioned by my dad, Rico, for the Don Rico headquarters. He had a graffiti-inspired logo designed by another artist, and while the concept was bold, it felt like something was missing. It needed more life. More heat.
I took the original artwork into Illustrator and started experimenting, adding highlights, shadows, and layers of color to bring dimension and energy to the piece. Once I landed on the new design, I scaled it up and painted it by hand onto a rough brick-paneled wall. The texture was no joke — uneven, gritty, unforgiving — but with time and patience, I made it work.
What felt like a limitation turned out to be a gift. That paneling made it possible to take the mural with us when we moved offices. Now it lives on like a wall-sized piece of art, traveling with us wherever Don Rico goes.
